Amit began his tax career 21 years ago in India with Arthur Andersen. He moved from consulting to industry 13 years ago and has previously worked for Huawei Technologies, Cisco Systems & Nortel Networks. During his career, he has lived and worked in India, China, UK and Singapore.

| Vice President, Tax GE India Amit Rana, a chartered accountant, is responsible for direct / indirect taxes for multiple GE businesses in India including GE Aviation and GE Capital. This comprises all tax planning, compliance, controllership, tax office /court litigation, M&A and tax-related customer negotiations. The responsibilities also extend to advocating and protecting GE India's interest in evolving tax policy through chambers, industry bodies and direct government interface.

Before that, he was the leader of KPMG’s indirect taxes and tax controversy practices in Australia. While at the NTS, he not only handled tax litigation but also served as a member of the Taxation Dispute Review and Council Committee as well as the Joint Review Working-level Committee where he specialised in tax appeal matters such as claims for judgment on propriety before tax, objections, claims for review and claims for trial.
